Forestry, fencing, tree surgery and site clearance for commercial and private clients

JRF Contracting offers a comprehensive range of aerial tree services, from pruning and crown management to complex removals. The team is experienced in completing tree work safely in commercial and domestic environments.

Appropriate pruning can support healthier growth and improve the structure of a tree. Removing dead, damaged or diseased branches increases airflow and light transmission while reducing avoidable risk.
Trees sometimes need to be removed close to buildings, industrial equipment or other hazards. Professional training, experience and specialist equipment allow JRF Contracting to plan and carry out this work safely and efficiently, taking account of the tree’s size and location.
Where it is safe and appropriate, a tree may be felled from ground level. In confined or complex spaces, sectional dismantling can be used to remove it in controlled stages.
Deadwooding removes dead branches that could present a risk, particularly around public or frequently used areas.
Pollarding is a management technique in which branches are removed back to a defined framework. Where appropriate for the species and tree history, it can help control size and retain a tree within a restricted space.
Crown thinning selectively removes a proportion of smaller internal branches to improve light penetration and airflow while retaining the tree’s overall shape. The appropriate amount must be assessed for the individual tree and should not exceed recognised arboricultural limits.
Crown lifting removes selected lower branches to increase clearance beneath the canopy. This may improve access, visibility or the usable space below the tree.
Crown reduction decreases the overall height and spread of a canopy by pruning back to suitable growth points. The extent of any reduction is determined by the tree’s species, condition and surroundings, and should remain within recognised arboricultural limits.
Stump grinding removes a stump to below ground level, allowing the area to be landscaped, replanted or put to another use.
Thank you for the excellent work you did. The trees look so much better and the trees you cut down are great. Highly recommend Joseph and his team - brilliant all round.
Joe did a great job taking down a huge leylandii. He has all the kit required to do this safely and tidied up all the debris leaving us with a pile of chippings for use on the garden and timber for possible garden furniture. Will use again and would recommend.
Joe and his team did an extremely professional job in July 2023 chainsawing off and chopping up some serious branches of a huge horse chestnut of ours which were overhanging the road, involving organising a temporary traffic light. […]
