Why choose JRF Contracting

JRF Contracting has grown organically by combining hard work, skilled workmanship and continued investment in modern, specialised equipment. This allows the team to choose machinery appropriate to each site and complete work efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and attention to detail.

From large and compact excavators to tractors equipped with forestry and fencing implements, JRF Contracting has the flexibility to tackle a wide range of projects and timescales.

  • Experience on the ground

Work is planned around the site, not forced to fit one method. Access, ground conditions and the intended outcome decide the approach.

  • A skilled workforce

Results depend on experienced operators as much as powerful machinery. Both matter, and both are on site.

  • Continued investment in kit

Growth has been reinvested in specialist equipment, so the right machine is available for jobs large and small.

  • Attention to detail

A tidy, finished site at the end of the job, ready for whatever happens next.

  • Care for the land

Wildlife, habitat and the long-term health of the site are considered when the work is planned and while it is carried out.

  • One contractor, several trades

Forestry, fencing, aerial tree work, clearance and timber products handled by the same team.

Forestry, fencing, tree surgery and site-clearance projects delivered across a varied client base.

Built from a passion for the outdoors

Joe Finnemore owns and runs JRF Contracting. He established the business after finishing university and deciding that corporate office life was not for him. With a strong passion for the outdoors and countryside, the opportunity to build a career working outside had clear appeal.

Working with the long-term health of the land in mind

Forestry and vegetation work can have lasting effects on habitats and landscapes. JRF Contracting carefully considers wildlife, habitat and the future health of each site when planning and carrying out work.

The aim is to deliver the required result while respecting the land entrusted to our care.

What clients say

  • Would highly recommend JRF contracting, Joe was knowledgeable, courteous, he turned up on time, had excellent communication throughout and did a fantastic job with some huge fir trees that had grown almost out of control! He listened to what we wanted and was sympathetic to the privacy we wanted to retain. Very happy customers would definitely use JRF again!

  • Joseph gave our very overgrown contorted willow a sympathetic haircut and removed a tricky apple tree which was growing at a 45 degree angle against our wall. He was very responsive, knowledgeable, efficient (did both jobs in a day the same week as instructed) and good value for money. I would happily recommend JRF for any tree surgery you need.

  • Joe did a great job taking down a huge leylandii. He has all the kit required to do this safely and tidied up all the debris leaving us with a pile of chippings for use on the garden and timber for possible garden furniture. Will use again and would recommend.

  • Joe and his team did an extremely professional job in July 2023 chainsawing off and chopping up some serious branches of a huge horse chestnut of ours which were overhanging the road, involving organising a temporary traffic light. […]

  • Great service from JRF - willows pollarded, diseased ash dismantled, reduction and canopy lifting on cherry and Hornbeam trees. Immaculate professional work - no hesitation in recommending.
